Dementia Action Week (16 - 22 May 2022)
Dementia Action Week is a national annual event and about communities coming together to raise awareness of dementia and provide an opportunity for anyone with a diagnosis, family members or carers to learn more and find out about local support available. When it comes to creating a dementia friendly community and making a difference to someone living with dementia a little does a lot. Research shows that many people with dementia feel isolated and lonely and friends and family dont always know what to say. We would like to build a community where anyone with a diagnosis can continue to carryout everyday activities for as long as possible and where all of us can help make a difference. There are plenty of ways you can get involved from displaying information, planning your own event or volunteering at the events and activities.
Whether you have a diagnosis, are a family member of someone with a diagnosis or a carer, or you are just interested in learning more why not come along to any of the events in during Dementia Action Week to find out more. It is a great opportunity to meet members of our steering committee, volunteers and support organisations all helping to make our town more dementia friendly.
If you are interested in volunteering at any of our events/activities please get in touch as we are always looking for people to get involved and help us make our community more dementia friendly. Look out for further details about events / activites during the week in the next few weeks.
